Gable-End Loft Conversions

Gable-End loft conversions, also known as Hip to Gable loft conversions, are becoming an increasingly popular method of extending the loft space to create an extra room in all types of properties, especially in the Brighton area.

Woodhart Lofts provide only the highest quality Gable-End loft conversions across the South East of England which can often be completed in less than 6 weeks with minimum disruption to you and your family.

What is a Gable-End Loft Conversion?

Most properties have a regular ‘hipped’ roof with a sloping side which severely limits the usable loft area available for storage or living space. A Gable-End loft conversion extends the roof of your property along the sloping side to create a vertical wall (the Gable) which will match the existing block or brick work. This process provides considerably more space for almost any intended use and can be accompanied by a Dormer or Mansard loft conversion to achieve the maximum possible living space.

Gable-End Planning Permission

The permitted development laws that were introduced in 2008 mean that it is not always necessary to obtain planning permission when extending your home with a Gable-End loft conversion. Some local councils are yet to approve these changes making it advisable to check with the relevant authorities before proceeding with any works.
