Woodhart & The Federation of Master Builders

About the Federation of Master Builders

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is a construction and trade association that champions excellent standards of work and professionalism from its members. It was established in 1941 and is an association recognised across the UK. Only companies that meet the standards and criteria of the federation are accepted as members. Because of this; the use of the Federation of Master Builders logo highlights that the person or company presenting it meets a high standard and the customer can be confident in working with that provider.

The Vetting Process

There are a number of requirements for joining the FMB and all of this criteria must be met before a trader can become an official member and display the FMB logo.

Here are some of the requirements:
Verified that they have no undischarged bankruptcies or relevant and outstanding County Court Judgements
Employer and public liability insurance
To undergo an independent inspection every three years for building works in progress
Passed credit checks, public record and director checks upon joining

The website has a full membership criteria table.

Brexit and the FMB

In an interview earlier this year with designingbuildings.co.uk a Chief Executive for FMB, Brian Berry, spoke about Brexit and the impact it is having on the FMB members…

“Everyone was concerned at the time of the referendum about it being very negative for the economy, but we did a survey of our housebuilders and two-third’s of them said it was business as usual, very little impact.” He goes on to say that this is most likely because of the high consumer confidence FMB members receive.

When it comes to Brexit and the construction industry; we’ll have to wait and see how it truly impacts – as of this blog’s creation the exit of Europe hasn’t been navigated so we won’t know how much on an impact it will make. It will certainly have a larger effect on the ‘cowboy’ builders than it will those in the industry that have accreditations and are a part of associations like the Federation of Master Builders.

Woodhart’s Association with FMB

The FMB’s prestigious nature suits Woodhart’s pedigree to a tee. Our completed work speaks for itself, and the ability to cooperate with other master tradesmen on esteemed local projects allows us the freedom to experiment with contemporary techniques.
